"So as part of the personal injury process, you can claim for your general damages, or your pain, suffering, and loss of amenity—in other words, your injuries from the accident. And you can also claim for your special damages, which are your out-of-pocket losses and expenses which you've incurred as a result of the accident, such as travel expenses, private medical treatment, loss of earnings, or future care and assistance."
