Russell & Russell were instructed to act on behalf of the widower of a pedestrian who had been knocked down on a pedestrian crossing and fatally injured. The incident occurred in broad daylight outside a local school. At what was a very difficult time for the family, Russell & Russell were able to offer legal guidance and support in navigating a claim on behalf of the deceased.
Two Defendant drivers were identified and apprehended by Police after a short manhunt as both had fled the scene. Both drivers were banned from driving at the time of the incident, and neither had valid insurance. The insurers for each vehicle involved were approached for indemnity. Complex legal points were involved, and Court proceedings had to be initiated due to the legal situation.
Although the legal complexities meant the case took some time to resolve, a settlement was subsequently paid to the Claimant of £50,000.00.
